Pricing custom stained glass designs can seem complicated. Hopefully, this formula will help.
PRICING ART GLASS

Prices are determined by a
base square foot price,
combined with the cost of the
number of pieces used in the
design.

Here is a standard formula
that many glass artisans
employ in order to estimate
the cost of your window:

The average design will have
8 to 15 pieces per square
foot. More is charged for
wood framing, installation,
bevels, jewels,  painting and
other specialty treatments.

The cut pieces are priced
from $1 to $2 each,
depending on the type of
glass and the intricacy of the
cuts.

Please print this page, take
your measurements, and
determine your own "Ball
Park" estimate, by following
the steps in the formula to the
right.

We will be glad to discuss the
variables involved and give
you a more complete estimate.

We do ship anywhere in the
Continental US. (Yes, we ship
windows.)
    FORMULA

Height (in inches) multiplied by width (in
inches) equals: _____

That total divided by 144 equals: _____

That total is your square footage.

Your square footage total multiplied by
$100.00 equals: _____(A)

That total is your "base" price.

Your square footage multiplied by 11
equals: _____

That total is the average number of
pieces for a window that size.

That total multiplied by $1.00 equals:
_____(B)

That total is the average cost for the
pieces in a window that size.

Add the "base" price (A) to the cost of
the pieces (B) and you have a "ball
park" estimate, based on averages.

If you want something special and you
have a set budget, tell us what you
want, and what your budget is, and we
will work with that, to provide something
that you can be proud of for many
years to come.
We require a $30.00 design
fee in advance of making any
detailed designs. The image
above is an example of what
I'd send to you before I
started construction. This fee
is not refundable but it is
subtracted from the total, so it
also serves as a deposit.

Once you approve of the
design and the price, we ask
for one-third (of the estimated
total) before we begin
fabrication. The balance is
due upon completion.

How Long Does It Take?  It
depends on who's ahead of
you and how quickly we can
work through the design
process. If you have a special
event that you are planning,
we will make every effort to
help you meet your goal.

If I can't do what you need, I'll
make every attempt to
connect you with someone
who can.  It's the Karma thing.

If you don't think that you
could possibly afford what we
do - call or email us - there
are many alternative ways to
get something unique and
elegant for surprisingly low
cost. We are here to work
with you.
